On 27 June 2026, the 18th dragon boat race will take place in the Defereggental valley.

On Saturday, 5 July 2025, we will start with a short meeting at around 8.45 a.m. with the team captain meeting.

At 9.00 a.m., we will open the 17th highest dragon boat race in the world. The preliminary rounds are scheduled for the morning. Each team will have two timed preliminary rounds. The times will be added together to determine the final rounds.

After a short lunch break, the final races will start in the early afternoon.

If time permits and the weather cooperates, the 1,000 m pursuit race is planned to follow the A final.

Note: The starting order of the teams will be determined by a draw.

The award ceremony is planned to take place at the party (weather permitting) or immediately after the 1,000 m pursuit race.
(The decision will be made on the afternoon of the race day.)

Location: Obersee in the Defereggental in Osttirol
Course length: approx. 250 m

Participants: Fun teams, company teams, recreational teams and club teams

Team captain (TC): The team is represented exclusively by the respective TC, who is also the contact person for the organiser.

Team size: Each team (16–20 paddlers + 1 drummer) should have at least 6 female paddlers. The coxswain is provided by the organiser. Teams that wish to use their own coxswain must register them with the regatta management before the start of the regatta.

1. All participants take part in the event at their own risk.

2. We, as the organiser, and our partners are not liable for personal injury or property damage.

3. The instructions of the organisational staff must be followed at all times.

4. A boat must be manned by a minimum of 14 and a maximum of 20 paddlers (including at least 6 female paddlers) and one drummer. Life jackets are mandatory.

5. Teams that do not arrive at the start on time after being called or according to the race schedule may be disqualified from the respective race by the jury.

6. The arbitration ruling must be complied with. If a protest is lodged against the arbitration ruling, a protest fee of € 30 must be paid and a hearing will be held.
The decision of the arbitration tribunal must be complied with. The protest fee is ‘lost’ to the payer if the appeal is not upheld. Otherwise, a refund will be made. A protest must be submitted in writing to the race management immediately after the race.

7. The organisational staff is entitled to exclude team members who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or otherwise unfit to race from the race.

8. All team members must be able to swim 25 metres in their clothing.

9. Anyone who deliberately or through gross negligence causes a boat to capsize and/or damage it shall be liable for any direct or indirect damage caused and may be disqualified.

10. The reporting team captain is obliged to inform each participant before the event about the conditions of participation, race rules/safety regulations, the organisational procedure of the race and the special and general regulations.
